YSL Touche Eclat vs. L'Oreal Magic Lumi Concealer (Review&Demo)

Another comparison review for you all! I think I am going to be doing a comparison more from now on because I love to find something that is exact/almost the same things, but they cost dramatically different, so that I could help you save money!

Pen highlighters are becoming more and more popular now, like almost cosmetic companies have their own pen highlighters. The reason why pen highlighters are so booming right now is because they are really convenient and really can make you more awake and fresh. Pen highlighters can banish those dark shadows under the eye and brightening them, so you'll look like you have an eight hour sleep. They can be applied before or after your foundation or powder, I personally like to apply it after my foundation, then apply powder on top of it. Because they have a brightening effect, the parts where you apply it is the same as you put on powder highlighters: under your eyes, above the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, cupid's bow, chin, and forehead.

So today I am going to be comparing the famous Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch and the fairly new L'Oreal Magic Lumi Concealer. First of all, their price are so much different. YSL Touche Eclat is $40, while L'Oreal Magic Lumi is $12.99.

They are both housed in a shiny packaging, YSL has a gold packaging, while L'Oreal is more to copper. You need to click the end of the pen a few times for YSL to dispense the liquid. Instead of clicking, L'Oreal requires us to twist the end of the pen.

Honestly, they both are really similar - both cover the dark circles really well. YSL and L'Oreal also label these products as a concealer, but it is really a brightener. They don't cover blemishes or any imperfections, they just help camouflaging the darkness under the eyes and highlighting features that you want to have more shine (they are not shimmery though!).

I used the second lightest of these products (YSL no.2 and L'Oreal in Light). They are kinda in the same color, but I found that YSL's texture is thicker hence it has more brightener effect, and it is last longer as well. By the end of the day, I'd see the parts I highlighted are still bright when I used YSL at that day. L'Oreal could not maintain the brightness for a very long time because I see the parts are not as bright as I first applied it in the morning.

YSL also has more color ranges. It has 12 shades that you can choose from, while L'Oreal only has three shades of fair, light and medium. My skin is light with yellow undertone, and the Light matches perfectly. To be honest with you guys, since I discovered L'Oreal Magic Lumi, I stopped using my YSL again. It is cheaper and if I run out of it, I can just purchase it from the drugstore without ripping off my wallet. In terms of quality, I honestly cannot decide which one I like the most. For me, both of them are really comparable, I barely could not see the difference between both of them on my face.

Overall, if you have money to splurge, you surely can get the YSL Touche Eclat, but trust me they both are really comparable.

Where to buy: YSL - Sephora, Nordstrom, $40 ; L'Oreal - any drugstores, $12.99 (prices may vary depend on where you go)

What do you think of these two products? Have you ever tried one of those? What is your experience? Which one do you like the best? Leave in the comment below! You can also tweet me or post on my Facebook wall.
