BEST Drugstore Liquid Foundation (and FULL coverage too!)

Hi beauties!

I am going to be honest with you guys, I always invest my money on skin care products and a good foundation. Most of my foundations are pretty much high-end and actually that was the wrong things to collect them! I like to try different foundations, and I changed my foundation like I change clothes. I used to use different foundations everyday, and my skin was not very happy for that. Also, germs grow on liquid foundation faster than on powder, so I could not use my older foundations anymore right now and that is such a waste of money. They are still halfway full, and there is nothing I could do about it (unless I want to have a pimply face ;p). So, if I can suggest you, please just stick with one or two foundations so that you can use them up and buy a new different one in the future! ;)

*Wow..that was a long intro.* Like I said before, I liked to purchase a high-end foundation because of my stupid thought that the pricier the better the quality (how stupid is that?). Well the foundation that I am going to show you today is different! Finally I could open my mind to drugstores foundations that they also have the same quality as the high-end ones, and the best thing is: they are not expensive! The reason why I did not purchase foundations from drugstores was because I felt I could not find my color because there is no testers that I can swatch with. Also, a lot of people have sneaked to open it and try it out, so you never know which one was touched (germs warning!).

So, I was at Walgreens a few months ago and I have been eying for Revlon ColorStay Foundation for a very long time because I heard so many people liked it. Since I could not swatch it at the store, so I just risked my self to pick one that (I thought) was closed to my skin tone.

I went home, tried it on, and..... AMAZING!!!

You guys seriously need to try this. It is a FULL coverage foundation, and it makes your skin looks flawless without making it look cakey. It has a matte finish, does not feel heavy, and is long wearing. It also a little goes a long way, you only need a tiny bit of it and it will cover your entire face. If you have acne scars or redness, this foundation will cover it up, makes your skin looking smooth! It says that it has SPF 6 and SPF won't make you look good on camera. But I used it when I went to my friend's birthday and there was a lot of cameras going on there. My face did not look wash out at all. I think it was because the SPF is so low that the light from the camera flash won't have an effect for it. So, it is a pretty safe photo ready foundation.

The bottle says it wears up to 16 hours, which is true. I wore it for the entire day and night, and it still did not move until I removed it. ColorStay Foundation comes in two kinds: for combination/oily skin and dry skin. I obviously purchased the combo/oily skin because I will always get oily on my T-zone area. However, this foundation does not control my oiliness really well. After wearing it for maybe 12 hours, my T-zone area starts to get oily. But it won't make me look like a grease ball, so that's okay!

The bad thing about this foundation is there is no pump! So you have to use your finger and flip the bottle back and forth to get the product out. The result, you either will get too much or not enough. When you want to add more products, it will run quickly than the first time resulting foundation all over your finger. And if you feel it is too much of a product, you might want to put it back inside the bottle again. This will cause bacteria grows faster (don't worry, I do the same thing too because I feel it is unfortunate to wipe and toss it out :().

Overall, love love love this foundation! I tried other drugstore foundations too before, but I never liked them. But this one is different and a lot of people always asked me, "what foundation are you wearing?" So if you are looking for a full coverage, inexpensive foundation, please try Revlon ColorStay foundation. It has 20 different shades you can choose from, so you can't go wrong with that. But always save the receipt when you buy it, you never know if it won't match your skin tone, so you can always return/exchange it :) Oh, if you have a fair skin with yellow undertone like me, go with 300 Golden Beige shade.

Where to buy: any drugstores, $11.99 for 1 oz.

Random Sunday: Call Me Crazy

Hi beauties! Time for telling you about my inner self that I am a pretty crazy woman, LOL. You guys know I love to shop, I mean who doesn't? You know those little/huge cute fancy shopping bags? I save them, or should I say, I collect them? I only save shopping bags that have good quality and sturdy though.. Yes I do save Walmart/Target/groceries plastic bags, but I reuse them for trash bags, haha.

The reason why I save these little shopping bags is because they can be reused, literally for anything! Getting your lunch box in, delivering something for a friend, carrying something around.. I mean they look nicer than using a grocery plastic bag right?

I used to love shopping at MAC. Not anymore. LOL

Who doesn't love Sephora?

I swear I did not know that I have so many shopping bags until I decided to organize them. I thought I had a half of what I had now. You can see I have so many Sephora bags because I shop there often. I might be able to open my own Sephora store! Haha. Oh and also, these shopping bags were saved for maybe over four years. Don't think I shop at all of these stores only during this year, hee hee.

Also, do you know how some stores give you those gift wrap to wrap your purchase? I SAVE THEM TOO!! I smoothed them out first, then folded them. That way I could reuse it for someone's birthday or special events. They are not dirty or anything, right? So why not save a couple of bucks from buying gift wraps? :)

So the way I organized them is to use the biggest bag to put all the smaller sized bags. Since I have a lot of Sephora ones, I saved them in a separate bag.

What about you? Do you save those fancy shopping bags and the paper wraps? *please say yes so I won't feel bad and I am not alone!* LOL. If you do save them, how do you organize them?

Share your random thing about yourself in the comment below! It is Sunday, everything happens for random, doesn't it? LOL. You can also share with me on Facebook and Twitter! :)

Review: MAC Reel Sexy Eye Kohl in Heirloom

MAC Eye Kohl in Heirloom
Hi Lovelies! As I promised from my latest MAC Haul post (click here if you haven't read it yet), I would be doing an in-depth review of each thing I got. Today's review is from the Reel Sexy Collection Eye Kohl in Heirloom.

So there are four MAC eye kohls in this collection: Heirloom (metallic lavender), Hyacinth (mid-tone blue), Resort (deep amethyst plum), and Smolder (intense black). The reason why I only bought the Heirloom is because I don't own such a color in my kit, and Smolder is a permanent product and it is my most favorite black eyeliner (you'd always see in my tutorials). I was actually in doubt whether to get Heirloom or Hyacinth because Hyacinth is a pretty muted medium blue, not so navy, not so deep blue, it is like in between. Also, it is an opaque color. However, I finally decided to get Heirloom because I know I have blue eyeliners although it might not be the same shade as Hyacinth, so I would rather spend my money on something I did not have it yet.

Heirloom has a sheer texture. The color payoff isn't that great in one single pass, however I feel the shade is so unique that I know I have to have it. When you look at it, you might see it as a silver or a purple shade. In fact, it is a silvery sheen with lavender tinted and a hint of light gray. I really can't think of similar shade of this one.

All the MAC eye kohls has a soft texture, but they are not creamy as like kajal eyeliners. The color payoff is not as intense as kajal eyeliners either, but what I like about them it is long wearing. I use Smolder for the past two years and I still continue buying it. I wore Heirloom and it lasted for about eight hours without totally fading away. It did move a little bit, but you'd still able to notice the color on my lower lash line. In addition, MAC eye kohls don't dry out, or they don't drag painfully on your waterline. However, I usually need to get a few strokes in order to achieve what I desired.

Overall, I like MAC eye kohls and I have been loving it since forever, just because it stays on my waterline for a long time even though you need a few strokes to get the intensity of the color. If you like to purchase Heirloom, Hyacinth or Resort, you'd better hurry up because they are limited edition products.

Where to buy: MAC, $15 for 0.05oz

Quick Q: Depot Eyeshadows. YAY or NAY?

It is time for Quick Question! I have been considering this for a long time, but I am never able to figure out by myself, so I need your help beauties!

I love MAC eyeshadows so much (who doesn't?) and I did not know that they also came in a pan at first. So, each eyeshadow comes either in a pot or in a pan that you can put it in your MAC palette. So, I owned so many MAC eyeshadows in a pot, but somehow I want to depot it into a palette, so that it looks more organized and professional. However, the disadvantages of putting eyeshadows in a palette is you have to label each of them, and it tends to break easily if you are traveling a lot or you put something heavy on top of it. However, one MAC palette can fit 15 eyeshadows and that saves a ton of space on your makeup drawer! In addition, it is also $3.50 cheaper than the pot eyeshadows (the pan is $11.50, the pot is $15). Twelve bucks for a MAC eyeshadow? Yes please. The MAC palette is $16 by the way.

Now move on to the pot eyeshadows. The pot eyeshadows are easier to carry around with you because you can just pick one or two colors to be put into your makeup bag, or to travel with you. It is a nice little size of pot eyeshadows that won't take too much space on your makeup bag. However, it does take a lot of space in your makeup drawer, especially if you have a lot of it. Also, it is more expensive too.

I am not gonna lie I always get so jealous when I saw someone has their all MAC eyeshadows in a palette. It looks so neat and organized, and as a perfectionist girl, I want that! Maybe you think "go ahead depot your eyeshadows Alexandra!" Well, it ain't easy to decide, Loves. I have been thinking either to depot for a few years and I have not done any of them. The reason why is I am afraid that I am going to regret depoting all the eyeshadows. Because once you take them out from the pot, you won't be able to put it back in a pot.

If you are curious on how to depot an eyeshadow, you can YouTube it. A lot of girls are using flat irons to do it. Also, I can get a free MAC lipstick for every five MAC containers including the eyeshadow's pot (Back to MAC program).

And one last thing about putting all your eyeshadows in a palette. Lets say you were creating a palette that was filled with neutral eyeshadow colors, what about if you purchased one neutral color but does not have space anymore in the palette? You might have to get a new palette, and start the neutral collection again. However, if you don't like to categorize eyeshadows in the same color range, then you can just put whatever eyeshadows' colors in the palette.

So, in a conclusion: Do you like to buy your eyeshadows in the individual pots or in the pans? Should I depot my eyeshadow pots to a pan or stay with what it is? (FYI, not only MAC does have eyeshadows in the pots or pans, but Make Up For Ever, Stila, Urban Decay and other brands also sell their versions too!)

I am really sorry this happens to be a long post, I just wanted to ask you a quick question, but I also wanted to mention the pros and the cons because I have been in this dilemma for a few years now! So please help a sister out :)

My Hair Care Routine (and all about my hair!)

Hi beauties! I don't want to brag, but I got a lot of compliments about my hair. So I thought I'd like to share with you all how I keep my hair healthy and long! The number one question that I always got is 'how do you keep your hair so long?' and I will always answer the same thing, 'just don't cut it,' haha. I mean that's true though.. Last time I cut my hair was almost three years ago, and the length was probably a little bit above the bra strap. The best trick that I found on how to grow you hair longer is: the more you wash it, the faster it grows. I don't know if it works for you, but every time I am not satisfied with my new haircut (usually it is too short!), I just wash my hair often, and it grows longer and faster.

My hair was layered, and the longest peace has reached my hips. The reason why I did not cut my hair was because I wanted to grow out my bangs. I had bangs for my entire life, and I did not want them anymore. The only way to get rid of bangs is to grow it out. So, I just let my hair grows and I even did not trim it! I know I know it is bad to not trim your hair.. But almost all of the hairdressers I had, they will chop off my hair every time I asked them to trim it. So, I was kind of having a traumatic here. I also heard that the more you trim your hair, the faster it grows. Again, I don't trim my hair, so I can't prove this to you :(

Even though my hair looks healthy both in real life or pictures, but actually it is pretty damaged, haha. I used heat all the time such as flat iron, curling iron, and blow dryer. So of course I have split ends, they are not that bad or obvious, but you know.. I just can't get rid of them! Oh to be honest with you guys, my hair falls out a lot. I think because it is too long and 'heavy' for my head, so it breaks and falls, hee hee. (OMG.. as I am writing this, I realize I need to get a haircut).

My hair color is naturally black, like seriously deep black. I always wish to have a brown hair (I want to be a brunette, haha!), so I decided to dye my hair for the first time in my life (click here to read my 'dye my hair' post). I did it by myself at home, and now the color starts to fade away :(

Anyway, that's all about my hair. Let me know if you have any question. Now lets move on to my hair routine...

Honestly, I hate washing my hair as much as I hate doing laundry, haha. I don't wash it too often (I know it is yucky), but the more you wash it, the oilier your hair get. So, if you have super oily hair, that might be because you wash it too often. Try to wash it once every two or three days, I know you might be super uncomfortable with oily hair, but hang on there and the result will be worth it. I wash my hair at least twice a week (sometimes even once a week, haha), so I don't have oily or dry hair, it is just normal, but tend to breakage :( Seriously though.. you'll feel lazy to wash your hair when your hair is long, hee hee.

In the last two years, I applied like 10 hair products after I washed it. I swear... I used this and that. But then I think my face is a bit allergic to the chemicals on the products, so now I am trying to use less products and natural products such as sulfate and paraben free. Here is my routine:

I always change up my shampoo. Right now I am using this Simply U Moisturizing & Smoothing shampoo and conditioner. The best thing about these is it has no sulfate and paraben, and it is cheap compared to other brands. I think these big bottles only cost around $5 each at Walmart, and it lasts me forever!

I do a hair mask once a week. Right now I am using Organix Ever Straight Brazilian Keratin Therapy Hydrating Keratin Masque  (drugstores, $7.99) and I love it because it really makes my hair so smooth and shiny! I use the Wen Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner sometimes. It is for deep conditioning you hair so that it will become healthier. I got this sample size from My January Glam Bag, so might as well try it out! I alternate these two products, so if I didn't deep condition my hair, I'd do a hair mask.

Right after I get off from shower, I towel dry my hair for maybe five to ten minutes. I'd do my skin care routine while waiting for my hair to sit for a while. First, I will apply this Lily of the Desert Organics Aloe Vera 80 Styling Spray onto my wet hair and then followed by Macadamia Natural Oil Healing Oil Treatment. I use the styling spray as heat protectant, and macadamia oil for hair nourishment from my hair being damaged and tangled.

Then I blow dry my hair with this Helen of Troy blow dryer. I got this for free at Ulta, so I am just gonna use it. I used to air dry my hair, but now it is so long and it takes forever to dry! So I just have to use a blow dryer. I use the concentrator because a lot of people say that it will keep the hair from being frizzy.

And if I have time, I'd straighten my hair with GHD Flat Iron. I know this flat iron is such a plurge, but I have owned it for three years and it still functions on its best. I am not gonna purchase more flat irons until this one dies! LOL. My hair is not stick straight, but it is naturally pretty straight and has a lot of volume. To be honest with you guys, I don't like big volumized hair. So the reason why I straighten it is to make it more neat and less volume (I don't straighten it until it is super flat FYI, haha).

So that is all my hair care routine and all about my hair. I think I am going to stick with this routine for the longest time because I'd rather spend my money on makeup than hair products, haha. Do you agree? ;)

Let me know if you have any questions by leaving comments below! Or you can message me through Facebook or Twitter! :)

I look forward to talking to you all!

Top 5 MAC Blushes for Beginners

Hi beauties! Today I want to share with you my top five MAC Blushes of all time. These colors are so pretty and versatile that you can wear it in any season or any occasion. They are also like my to-go blushes - when I don't have time to choose what blush to use, I just grab one of these and I am good to go.

Also, they are not so dramatic or too glittery/shimmery, so they are perfect for those of you who are new to the makeup world and planning to pick up some blushes from MAC. You know MAC has a lot of blushes and it can be too overwhelming sometimes, so these five colors are like a must-have on your collection! :)

Lets get started!

First one has to be Cubic. This was the first MAC blush I have ever purchased! A little story behind this blush... I remembered I was on MAC website and tried to decide which blush I should go for. I did not want to have a super dramatic color, so I asked one of the MAC representatives with live chat. She suggested Cubic for me, and my first impression was like... "that looks purple!" But she convinced me that this blush will look beautiful and natural on every skin tone. So I'd just take the risk and bought it. Seriously I couldn't thank enough to her (or him.. I don't know), I love this blush to the end! :) Ohhh I forgot to tell you that Cubic is a muted mauve pink with satin finish. It has no shimmer, so it won't accentuate redness or any imperfections.

The next blush is called Dame. As you can see it is a soft blue pink with satin finish. This is a pretty pink that will suit in every skin tone. It contains no shimmer or glitter, and will give you a flush of pretty pink on your cheeks! :)

This is also in the pink category, but it is more vibrant and a little bit more dramatic. I love this Barbie pink blush called Dollymix, it is sheer so that you can build up the intensity. Also, it has slight shimmers but not too overwhelmed. So pretty!

Next one is my favorite peachy blush! It is called Peachykeen, and this is the most natural peachy blush I have ever found. Seriously if you are searching for a peachy blush that will give you a healthy and natural look, this is the one. Same as Dollymix, it is sheer and has a slight of shimmers. You barely notice the shimmer, but it will give you a radiance on your cheeks!

Instead of pink and peach blushes, you have to have at least one berry/plummy blush on your collection. Berry/plummy shade is actually the most natural color on the cheeks. You know if you just got pinched on your cheeks, it would show a dark red color instead of pink and peach, right? haha! So, my favorite berry blush from MAC is Plum Foolery and it is a natural plum color with a slight shimmer. Again, it is sheer so that you can build up the color until you are satisfied with the shade.

So that is it my Top 5 MAC blushes! If you were planning to build up your MAC blush collection, I highly recommend you to have these five colors. I guarantee you won't be disappointed, haha.

Where to buy: MAC, $20 for 0.21oz

Review: Maybelline the Falsies Volum' Express Mascara

Maybelline the Falsies Volum' Express Mascara

If I can choose one makeup product to use, I'd pick mascara. I am a true mascara junkie if you haven't known it yet. Even though with bare face, mascara can change your whole look! It opens up your eyes and you're good to go. I used to collect mascaras before, but now I am trying to change that habit! Mascara can only last for three months. After three months pass, you need to throw your mascara because bacteria grows faster and you don't want to get an eye infection. So, in my opinion, don't waste your money on high-end mascara. I have almost tried so many different kinds of drugstores or high-end mascaras, and the drugstores can do the same thing as the high-end ones. You can always buy high-end mascara if you really love it and you are going to use it for straight three months :)

Anyway, today's review is for Maybelline the Falsies Volum' Express Mascara. I used to love this two years ago but I stopped using it because I fell in love with COVERGIRL Volume Blast Mascara. I was running out of the COVERGIRL one, and decided to try something else. I remembered how I loved the Falsies Mascara, so I decided to use it again!

I purchased the non-waterproof formula, you know how I hate waterproof mascara because they are such a pain in a butt to remove. The Maybelline Falsies Mascara really gives a volume on your lashes. My lashes looks thicker and darker, and it also adds length as well. It comes in three different colors: Blackest Black, Very Black and Brownish Black. I bought the blackest black one. The wand is slightly curvy, Maybelline call it "spoon brush." It does fill in most of the gaps on my lashes if I wiggle the wand from root to tip. I like to apply one to three coats to achieve my desired look. The wand stick feels really weak and fragile, you can bend it easily. But this is not a biggie for me, it did not break during I was still using it.

This mascara is easy to clump, especially if you put lots of coats. Even though you don't wait until it dries, it'll be still clumpy. So, I recommend to put on one to three coats max. I like to create a spider lashes look (click here to read my post about spider lashes) with this mascara because it requires "clumpy" lashes.

Also, it does not hold the curl very long. The first time I applied it onto my lashes, I saw perfect lashes on my eyes. It is long, volumized, thick, curl, and dark. The next hour later, I won't see the same lashes I saw before. It still looks thick and dark though, but since it does not hold the curl that well, my lashes look flat and no longer look volumized either. *sad* My prediction is probably the waterproof formula one will hold the curl better and longer, just because it has wax so that it stays on your lashes in a longer period of time. In addition, the wand does not work that well on applying mascara on your lower lashline. I think because the wand is too big, so use smaller wand if you want to have a coat of mascara on your lower lashline.

Overall, I like this mascara if they can hold the curl on my lashes longer because I really like how my lashes look after I apply it, and I hope it would stay like that until I removed it. Again, I would not buy its waterproof formula, I am just anti to it, haha.

Where to buy: any drugstores or Ulta, $6.99 (prices may vary depending on where you get)

MyGlam Bag: April

My April Glam bag has arrived! The theme for this month's bag is Girls' Night Out. If you are not familiar with MyGlam, it is basically a paid monthly subscription ($10/month), and each month they will send you a bag filled up with sample sized beauty products. I subscribed MyGlam since January, and since then there were so many skin care products rather than beauty products. I was not very satisfied about it. However, this month they are featuring all cosmetic products, but the amount is not as many as previous bag, which I don't mind, as long as I like them and I enjoy using them :)

First is a lip product from DermStore called Lip Quench. It is supposed to soften and smooth your lips if you have dry, chapped lips. You know that I always have dry and cracked lips, and I tried this on, and it is actually really moisturizing. First when you apply it, you won't see the difference, but in the next few minutes, your lips will be smooth and not dry anymore. Surprisingly as well, it has a peachy pink tint to it. I have a really pigmented lips, so the color does not really show up well on my lips. Also, it smells great!

The next product is a false eyelashes from All-Belle. I never see this brand before (I think it is a brand from China), and I have never been a fan of faux eyelashes. Probably it is because such as hassle to apply it, but a lot of people say the more practice, the better you are at applying false eyelashes. Yeahh that's true, but I rarely go to any special occasions that requires faux lashes, so I never have a chance to practice! Haha. Places I usually go are workplace, grocery stores, friends' house. HAHA. Anyway, I have a special event today, and I am planning to take the chance to use this lashes. I will show it to you later! :)

Next is Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Junkie. I just went to Urban Decay site to give you the link if you'd like to purchase it, but apparently this liner is not available anymore. I think this shade was from Holiday 2011 24/7 Pencil Sets. Anyway, it is a blue teal with gold and green flecks.

In the last month's Glam Bag, I got a MyGlam Crease Brush. This month I got two sets of brushes, and they are a flat shader brush and an angled brush. The flat shader brush is perfect to apply eyeshadow onto your lid, and the angled brush is to apply eyeliner or to create a winged eye look. Also, you can use it to fill out your brows too!

So, that is it I got from April MyGlam Bag. Am I satisfied? Yes. Will I expect to see more products like these? Definitely. I wish they could give us more products though, haha. When I opened it, I was like, "that is it???!!!" LOL. But it is okay.. I am not trying to be selfish. These products are great enough to have it on my collection.

Do you subscribe to any monthly 'makeup bag'? If yes, which company do you subscribe? If you don't, will you subscribe in the future? Let me know in the comment below!
