Review&Demo: Fairydrops Candy Bar BB Cream

As you've seen my Pretty and Cute haul, I got two kinds of BB Creams: Skin79 and Fairydrops (click here to see my haul). I have done a review and demo on Skin 79, click here if you haven't seen it, so now I am going to review on Fairydrops Candy Bar BB Cream.

This BB Cream is made specifically by a Japanese newscaster for looking good on the camera, which means skin looks flawless, shine-free, oil-free, basically how you describe a perfect skin! It also contains an ingredient of micro-gold pearl that can cover scars and freckles - this was the main reason why I bought it. I have a lot of acne scars on my cheeks, so I purchased this in hope of it could hide it without the need of concealers.

The texture is also lightweight, so you can layer it as much as you want to build up the coverage. Its waterproof formula also makes the product to be long wearing, it does not mean you can wear this to the swimming pool (I haven't tried it in the swimming pool, but it is best to not use foundation when you are swimming). Not like any other BB Creams, this one has no SPF, which I understand because SPF reflects light. Probably one of the reasons you look washed out in the picture is because your foundation contains SPF, and this BB Cream is a product to make skin looks perfect in the picture, so it does not include any SPF formula.

Also, Fairydrops Candy Bar BB Cream comes in two shades: Light Ochre and Ochre. If you are fair with yellow undertones, get the Light Ochre one. Ochre is for those who have darker skin tone with yellow undertones. This BB Cream has no grey tint on it, so it matches my skin tone perfectly. It is housed in a some kind of squeezeable tube with a sponge on top. I really did not know what to do with the sponge, so I assumed it is for the application, however, it did not do anything and absorbed all of the products. So I recommend to use your favorite foundation brush.

Now my experience using this product...

It is really lightweight and the coverage is buildable without making it look cakey as you layer. Usually I put a dime-sized of the product on my hand, and use Sigma F80 (a flat top kabuki brush) to apply it onto my face. I can see the difference afterwards, my skin looks even and smooth, but not everything is covered yet, so I put a little bit more of the products, and only focus on my acne scars on my cheeks. After two layers of it, my skin almost looks perfect. I am a person who does not like to layer too much foundation on, I prefer to use concealers to cover the rest of my imperfections that are still showing up (that's why concealers are made, right?:)).

So overall, I like this BB Cream, the consistency is good, the coverage is light to medium, and I still need to use concealers in order to get a really flawless look. But honestly, without putting on concealers, I think the coverage on my skin is fine, I just like to have my skin looks perfect, LOL. I took a picture to see if it did the job or not. I must admit that it really did. My skin looks smooth and flawless. The downside of it is probably the price. I wish they could lower the price :(

Where to buy: Pretty and Cute site, $39.99 for 35g

Steps by Steps

pretty much a dime-sized of the product, right? ;)

Then buff it onto your face with Sigma F80. See how you still can see my acne scars on my cheeks?

Second layer - the scars are almost invisible, and my face does not look cakey

Final result! After I put concealers, powder, bronzer and blush.

  1. I know this is kind of an old post but thanks for the review! I've been dying to try this BB cream for ages, however, nobody had reviews on it. :( I'm definitely gonna purchase it once I can gather enough money! Hahaha.
